John Brooks founded 1 Movement Hoops to bring top-flight youth basketball tournaments to the Kansas City metro area. Getting these tournaments impacts our young basketball players throughout the Kansas City area. Now, those athletes and their families no longer have to spend hours in the car each weekend to play competitive basketball.
Brooks also hopes that 1 Movement Hoops will provide job opportunities as the organization continues to grow. He hopes to one day employ tournament directors and other individuals to run his tournaments.
Brooks also runs a youth basketball program, KC Rising Stars. He uses a portion of the profits from 1 Movement Hoops to make KC Rising Stars more affordable for his players and parents. “The goal is to create a platform for the youth here in our KC metropolitan area, that play for the KC Rising Stars, to play basketball at a high-level at a fraction of the costs,” said Brooks. With participation costs subsidized and travel costs minimized, KC Rising Stars and 1 Movement Hoops provide young basketball players a platform to play high-level basketball.
You can find basketball teams from across the United States in Kanas City participating in 1 Movement Hoops tournaments on any given weekend. Brooks said, “We are bringing them to our backyard, right here in Kansas City. So now the benefits of those kids (KC Rising Stars), they have the opportunity to play against some of the best athletes across the country without leaving their own backyard.”
