Chantel Coates owns a piece of Invicta FC history

On December 15, 2018, Chantel Coates made her professional debut in the Invicta Fighting Championship. Coates made quite the opening statement by delivering a stunning knockout of her opponent, Ashlynn Kleinbeck, 28 seconds into the fight. Going into the contest, Coates was cautious of allowing Kleinbeck to take her down given Kleinbeck’s Jiu-Jitsu background. As planned, Kleinbeck tried to clench her, but Coates kept moving and throwing combinations to avoid the takedown. Coates then forced Klenbeick back onto the cage before uncoiling a massive shot to Kleinbeck’s chin. “I just did a one-two pull two and hit her,” said Coates. After delivering the big right hand to Kleibeck’s chin, Kleibeck immediately dropped, and Coates ended her Invicta FC debut in grand fashion.

Coates sat down with KC Athletes to discuss how she got started in the fight game and her motivation to keep pursuing mixed martial arts glory.
