International soccer star Desiree Scott return’s to Kansas City as a member of the National Women’s Soccer League’s (NWSL) KC WOSO. Scott, a Winnipeg, Manitoba, Canada native, was a member of Canada’s 2011, 2015, and 2019 World Cup squads. She also contributed to two Olympic medals for the 2012 and 2016 Canadian Olympic teams.

In 2014 and 2015, she played for a club in Nottingham, England, but returned to FC Kansas City in 2016 and 2017, making 35 appearances. Scott then played in Utah in 2018 and 2019 before making her way back to Kansas City for KC WOSO’s inaugural season.

Scott enters her 10th professional season. During her time playing professionally, Scott witnessed women’s soccer evolve and grow. Scott described the talent gaps have closed between countries as the popularity for the sport has grown throughout the world.

As we begin this season, Scott hopes that the city has a new appreciation for its women’s soccer franchise. Scott said, “There’s been a demand for women’s soccer to be back in this city, and I think having our team have been here and then to have lost the team, I think there’s a newfound appreciation for the fact that we are back.”
