Rockhurst University volleyball hosts youth camp with sights on the NCAA tournament

We were honored with exclusive access to the 2021 Rockhurst volleyball camp featuring junior high and high school campers. Head Women’s Volleyball Coach Trent Jones gave us a few minutes of his time to reveal the goals and challenges his team will face this upcoming season.

Jones kept it simple, establishing that he wanted his team to have success by working hard on the court as well as in the classroom, and by being a good teammate. Winning the regular season conference title and the conference tournament are at the top of the list of Jones’ goals this upcoming season. Though the ultimate goal for Rockhurst Women’s Volleyball is to continue with the program’s tradition by making the NCAA tournament.

Jones described the GLVC as a “tough, high-level” Division II conference, which featured 5 teams from the conference ranked in the top 25 at one point last spring. Senior Morgan Conner and Sophomore Logan Gronewold doubled down on their coach’s comments, expressing that the goal is to make the NCAA tournament. Both players expressed their belief in their team’s potential, and Conner is confident that they can achieve their goals, with most of the team returning this year.
