Kansas City cinematographer Adrian Herrara (@adrianbherrera), the owner of A1 Films, discusses the creative process behind I am Jada Williams – Committed: The Short Film. Herrara, a Topeka, Kansas native, developed a relationship with Jada Williams and her family through his goddaughter. Last February, Williams reached out to Herrara and asked him to help create her college commitment through a film. After meeting with Williams and her mother, Herrerra agreed to work on the project and began thinking of ways to tell Williams’ story through film.
Herrara and Williams collaborated for three weeks on the script. To make his ideas a reality, Herrara assembled a talented film crew to support his vision. The crew filmed in KC and Los Angeles and then spent another month editing the film.
The result was a 6 minute and 38-second cinematic masterpiece that tells the story of Williams’ flight to stardom. The film is also a reminder of the sacrifices Williams made to soar to those heights. We are excited to watch Williams for the next two years as she continues to develop, and we are looking forward to viewing more projects from Herrera and A1 Films.
